On March 18, 2022, a jury found Defendant Demarco Ayers guilty of the continuous sexual abuse of his stepdaughter.
The defendant was convicted of two counts of oral copulation of a child under 10 years old, two counts of lewd conduct with a child under 14 years old, and one count of exhibiting harmful material to a child.
The defendant is Jane Doe’s stepfather and has been in her life since she was 4 years old; she is now 10. Doe’s mother and the defendant share a son.
When Doe was approximately 8 years old, the Defendant started to continuously sexually abuse her for almost two years. He would come into her bedroom at night, wake her up, and molest her.
Although the Defendant and Doe’s mother ended their relationship in February 2020, Doe continued to visit the defendant with her little brother on weekends in Hayward. During these weekend visits, the sexual abuse continued. The Defendant also showed Doe pornography on his phone during these visits.
The disclosure of the defendant’s abuse came to light in June 2020.
The defendant is expected to be sentenced on April 18.
