Victim & Witness Services
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office Victim-Witness Assistance Program was the first of its kind in the state of California.
The Victim–Witness Assistance Division of the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office provides a variety of services for crime victims, witnesses, and their families, as they work through the emotional trauma of their victimization.
We are aware of, and are concerned about, the problems that crime victims, witnesses and their families experience as a result of the victimization. Weeks, even months after the crime, many individuals still experience problems due to the crime. Our office is dedicated and designed to alleviate some of these issues.

“As novices to the justice system, we didn’t know what to expect when we started attending the trial, but soon found out that it could often be a frustrating and emotionally exhausting experience. We were so grateful that the advocates assigned to our case were there for us every step of the way…
We think that the Victim/Witness Assistance Program is one of the most important parts of the county justice system.”
