People v. Kwangson Kim

On August 29, 2022, a jury found Defendant Kwangson Kim, guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a minor as well as an additional three counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a minor.

From November of 2014 through February of 2018, the Defendant continuously sexually abused one of his minor students while he worked as her golf instructor. The Defendant was a golf instructor for many years at local courses such as the Tri-Valley Golf Center and Dublin Ranch Golf Course. In the course of his employment, he taught hundreds of students, including minors. The Defendant was Jane Doe’s instructor throughout her childhood. As their relationship grew over time, he would drive her to and from practices and provided her both group and individual lessons. Over this period, the Defendant used those opportunities of access to Jane Doe, to sexually abuse her.

The Defendant will be sentenced on September 28, 2022.

The case was prosecuted by DDA Natasha Jontulovich with the assistance of Inspector Simon Rhee and Victim Witness Advocate Lindsay Reynolds.
