Beware of any text messages you receive from unknown senders.
Residents may have received texts claiming from scammers who pretend to be EDD or Bank of America in an attempt to trick people into giving up personal information by text message.
Consumers should be careful about responding to unsolicited texts of this kind.
- Do NOT click on an embedded link unless you are certain it is from a trustworthy source.
- The EDD will not contact you via text unless you have signed up for text alerts.
- Customers can call Bank of America using the telephone number on the back of their debit card to check if a bank-related text message is legitimate.
