OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM ALAMEDA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY PAMELA PRICE
Re: Prosecution of Tuan Le Murder Case
August 29, 2024
On August 14, 2024, the Court determined that there was insufficient evidence presented to establish that defendant Marquise Cooper is responsible for the murder of Oakland Police Officer Tuan Le. The burglary charges against Mr. Cooper were dismissed without prejudice. It is important for the public to know that the investigation of Officer Le’s tragic murder is ongoing, and there is no statute of limitations for murder. Although Mr. Cooper is not currently facing charges in Alameda County, he is being held based on a probation violation from Contra Costa County, and he has not been released from jail. My office continues to work collaboratively with the Oakland Police Department on this case.
