2022 SPECIAL OLYMPICS TORCH RUN

On Thursday morning, a strong contingency of Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and Oakland Police Department employees joined forces to lace up their sneakers and run for the annual “Flame of Hope” Special Olympics Torch Run. The flame was handed off to us from Emeryville PD, and the contingency of about 100 people ran approximately three miles to hand off the burning flame to Alameda PD.

The event was part of the larger Law Enforcement Torch Run, which raises important funds to help the Special Olympics of Northern California carry out its core mission of providing year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

This year, our office raised more than $35,000, the most that any single agency has ever raised for the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run in the entire state of California! Wonderful job to all!
