PEOPLE V MARVEL SALVANT AND MARIA MOORE Feb 9, 2022

On February 7, 2022 a jury found defendant Marvel Salvant and Maria Moore guilty of the first-degree murder with special circumstances of Dominic Sarkar in a murder-for-hire plot.

The jury also found the allegation true that defendant Salvant had personally and intentionally discharged a firearm.

In the early morning of October 8, 2018, Mr. Sarkar was found shot to death while sleeping in his bedroom inside his residence in Fremont. Defendant Moore conspired with Defendant Salvant to murder Mr. Sarkar in order to collect $800,000 in life insurance benefits on his life.

Alameda County District Attorney Announces Settlement of Hazardous Waste Case Against Firestone Feb 7, 2022

OAKLAND Firestone Complete Auto Care has agreed to a nearly $4 million settlement with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and 28 other prosecutors in an environmental protection case that alleged the company unlawfully disposed of hazardous waste.

This week, a judge ordered $2.865 million in civil penalties to be paid by Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC, the company that does business as Firestone Complete Auto Care at more than 150 locations in California. The civil complaint, filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court, alleged that the automotive repair company did not properly manage hazardous waste, such as solvents, automotive fluids, aerosols, batteries, and electronic devices. The settlement also resolves allegations that the company failed to redact or shred confidential customer information before throwing the paperwork in the trash.

DA ANNOUNCES SETTLEMENT WITH PERRIGO TO REDUCE LEAD LEVELS IN INFANT AND TODDLER FORMULA PRODUCTS Feb 2, 2022

Settlement sets lowest enforceable lead levels in the country for infant and toddler formula

OAKLAND – Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley, California Attorney General Rob Bonta, along with 9 other district attorneys, announced a settlement today with Perrigo Company, a food manufacturing company, and two of its subsidiaries which will significantly reduce the levels of lead in the company's infant and toddler formula products.

In 2018, a lawsuit was filed against Perrigo after testing showed that its infant and toddler formula products contained levels of lead that exceeded the Proposition 65 warning threshold. Perrigo cooperated fully in the investigation and resolution of this matter. As part of today’s settlement, Perrigo will target lead levels of four parts per billion (ppb) for most of these products, levels much lower than applicable guidance levels established for this type of product by any U.S. regulatory authority.
