Beware of Scammers Impersonating PG&E Representatives

PG&E is warning customers about a rise in imposter scams. Imposters claiming to be from PG&E may contact customers via call, text, email, or in-person and demand immediate payment to avoid service disconnection. Imposters may tell the customer that their bill is past due and their service will be shut off within an hour if payment is not made. Calls from imposters may display PG&E on caller ID.

To avoid falling victim to such scams, remember that PG&E will not:

· Contact a customer for the first time within one hour of a service disconnection.

· Demand payment via third-party application such as Venmo or Zelle, or by pre-paid debit card, gift card, or cryptocurrency.

· Ask for customers’ financial information over the phone or via email.

Customers who receive a call, email, text, or in-person visit from someone claiming to be from PG&E demanding immediate payment or financial information may contact the PG&E Customer Service number at 1-833-500-SCAM.

For additional information, please see PG&E’s alert.
