People v Jesse Williams

On January 31, 2019, a jury found Jesse Williams guilty of second degree robbery for stealing an iPhone on January 27, 2017 from a woman while she was riding her bike home from work in Emeryville to West Oakland. While crossing through the intersection of Mandela Pkwy and Horton St., defendant, in his car, honked and then pursued the victim as she crossed into the dedicated bike lane. The defendant hit victim with his car, flinging her off her bike and onto her back. He then confronted her while she lay on the ground. He hit her in the head and snatched the iPhone from her hand. During the interaction with defendant, the victim noticed a pistol grip protruding from his pants. While driving away from the scene, the defendant pointed, what turned out to be a replica firearm at the victim and threatened her life. The defendant was arrested on the 950 block of 12th St., Oakland. All loss and weapons were recovered by law enforcement. The case was prosecuted by DDA Will Layne.
