People v Calvin Earl Odom

On February 25, 2016, a jury found defendant Calvin Earl Odom guilty of second degree murder with the use of a firearm.

On the afternoon of Easter Sunday, 2013, 37-year-old Vittorio "Vick" Jackson was shot and killed in a parking lot known for drug activity. Multiple witnesses identified defendant as the person who shot the victim and ran away with another individual.

At trial, the jury rejected Defendant Odom's testimony that he was merely present for the shooting but did not commit the murder. Defendant Odom was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. At the time of trial, defendant was already serving a prison sentence for federal bank robbery.

Defendant Calvin Earl Odom is scheduled to be sentenced on March 24, 2016.

The case was prosecuted by DDA Warren Ko, with assistance from DA Inspector Blair Alexander and Victim-Witness Advocate Hedy Mitlo.
