People v Ollie Boyd

On June 3, 2014, a jury found defendant Ollie Boyd guilty of assault with a deadly weapon. After being evicted from his wife's home followed by a day of heavy drinking, an altercation broke out between the defendant and his step-daughter and step-grandson, when he returned to the home. The defendant drove his van directly at his step-grandson while threatening him and lunging at him with a wrench. Then, defendant Boyd accelerated his van towards his step-daughter. She and her son ran from the van, but she was struck by pieces of the house's gate and fence as the van crashed through it. She suffered contusions and was treated at the Highland Hospital Emergency Department. The case was prosecuted by DDA Dan Roisman indispensably assisted by DA Inspector Simon Rhee.
