People v Bryan Allen Vulgamore (aka Bryan Allen Davis)

On June 5, 2014 a jury convicted Bryan Allen Vulgamore (aka Bryan Allen Davis) of second degree murder for the January 8, 2002, killing of Cecilia Garcia in Livermore.

The 24-year-old mother of one was found dead in the shower stall of her bathroom by her father when he returned home from work that day. Ms Garcia was strangled, violently assaulted, and ultimately drowned in running water that filled the shower into which her unconscious body had been dragged.

The jury found that the defendant, an acquaintance, inflicted those injuries when he went to Ms Garcia's home that morning to look at some puppies. He told police that when he left Ms Garcia's house, she was fine. However, he admitted to a friend that he had been “messing around” with her when Ms Garcia slipped and fell and hit her head on a sink, causing her to stop breathing.

The coroner said that Ms Garcia's injuries did not result from a slip and fall, but were consistent with manual strangulation and a violent assault. The jury determined the defendant was responsible for her murder.

The case was prosecuted by DDA Mark Melton with assistance from DA Inspector Kendell Won.
