People v Sellam Ismail

On August 27, 2014, a jury convicted Sellam Ismail of evading a peace officer and resisting, obstructing, or delaying a peace officer. On September 28, 2013, a Livermore police officer saw the defendant driving without a front or rear license plate. He attempted to make a traffic stop, but the defendant fled. During the pursuit, the defendant ran a solid red light almost causing a collision with an uninvolved vehicle. After the pursuit, the defendant refused to cooperate with police, accusing them of having “no authority” over him. The case was prosecuted by DDA Charly Weissenbach.
