Charges Filed in Brutal Murder of Jane Doe

Alameda County District Attorney Nancy E. O’Malley announced today charges have been filed against two men for the murder of Jane Doe on July 14, 2011.

Hector Garcia (also known as Ivan Garcia) and Salvador Arturo Valasco are charged with murder with a kidnapping special circumstance, desecration of human remains and evading a law enforcement officer. Defendant Garcia also faces an additional two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and six prior serious felony convictions are also alleged for Garcia.

On July 14, 2011, at approximately 4:39 AM, the body of victim Jane Doe was found burning onIvanhoe Road, in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland. Her identity was unknown at the time and she was later identified by the Alameda County coroner.

Hector Garcia (also known as Ivan Garcia) and Salvador Valasco were arraigned today, July 21, 2011, in Department 112 of the Wiley Manual Courthouse in Oakland, CA.
