District Attorney's Office Participates in Oakland's Chinese Lunar New Year Bazaar

On February 6th and 7th, 2010, the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce hosted the 18th annual Chinese Lunar New Year Bazaar, an exciting and colorful outdoor festival. For the first time, the District Attorney’s Office joined the festivities by hosting a booth staffed with volunteers from the Office.

During the event, 11 DA employees from the victim witness, inspectors and support staff divisions had the opportunity to reach out to the Asian community. At the booth, the bilingual staff explained to festival participants the District Attorney's responsibilities in the community, the available assistance to victims of crime and the many other services the Office offers to the public. They also passed out the flyers in both English and Chinese, as well as candy and other fun items.
