Oakland CA. August 14, 2023 – The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is charging two men allegedly involved in a shooting incident at a gas station on East 12th Street in Oakland on July 7. Roderick Smith of Hayward is charged with one count of attempted murder, two counts of shooting at an occupied vehicle and one count of unlawful firearm activity. Deandre Daley of Oakland is charged with one count of attempted murder, two counts of shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, one count of unlawful firearm activity and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Oakland police investigators say the two defendants parked their car after spotting the male victim pumping gas. A confrontation ensued. The defendants then started shooting at the male victim who shot back. That male victim was struck by a bullet. One of his female passengers was also shot and seriously injured. The third passenger was uninjured.
If found guilty of the charges, defendant Smith could face seventy-seven (77) years to life in prison. If convicted on all counts, defendant Daley also faces seventy-seven (77) years to life in prison.
