People v Vincente Prado-Rodriguez and Cinthia Gabriel-Martinez Jun 30, 2017

On June 22, 2017, a jury found defendant Vincente Prado-Rodriguez guilty as charged of first degree murder with the use of gun, plus special circumstances for robbery-murder; and robbery with the use of gun. At the conclusion of the presentation of evidence in the trial, Co-Defendant Cinthia Gabriel-Martinez pled guilty to robbery and to being an accessory to the murder.

Promoting Gun Safety in Alameda County Jun 21, 2017

It's the start of summer vacation and children across the Bay Area will be frequenting the homes of their friends and neighbors. In these homes, children can be put at unnecessary risk for serious injury or death by unsecured guns.

In order to raise awareness of this issue in our community, the Alameda County DA’s Office has partnered with the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence and the American Academy of Pediatrics in the ASK (Asking Saves Kids) Gun Safety Campaign. In America, one out of three homes with children has a gun, and nearly 1.7 million children live in a home with a loaded, unlocked gun. Each year, thousands of kids are killed and injured as a result.

People v Ner Bellin Santos Jun 8, 2017

On June 2, 2017, Defendant Ner Bellin Santos was convicted of several sex acts on the son of his ex-partner. The conviction included two counts of sodomy with a minor under 14, continuous sexual assault of a minor under 14, oral copulation with a person under 16, and distributing harmful material to a minor.

District Attorney O’Malley Announces Felony Charges Filed against Almena and Harris for their Role in Deadly Warehouse Fire

OAKLAND, CA – Alameda County District Attorney Nancy E. O’Malley today announced that her office has filed felony criminal charges against Derick Ion Almena and Max Harris in connection with the deadly warehouse fire on December 2, 2016, which took the lives of 36 men and women. Both Almena and Harris are charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter, a felony violation of California Penal Code Section 192(b).
