On March 23, 2015, a judge sentenced defendant Jacob James Kober to 80 years to Life in prison for the murder of Kenneth Robert Ogden in 2012.

Defendant Kober sold methamphetamine out of his rented room in a house that backed onto a golf course in Livermore. Victim Ogden was a friend of defendant Kober, and owed Kober $400. The victim had told friends that he feared defendant Kober would shoot him. The victim eventually arrived at Kober’s home just before 9pm, and witnesses saw the two men leave the house and walk towards the golf course before hearing gunshots. Defendant Kober returned alone fifteen minutes later.

The following morning, the victim was was found face down on the 4th hole by a jogger. He had been shot twice, one bullet piercing the liver and heart and the second shot through his left arm. Defendant Kober fled to Oregon, where he was arrested and extradited to California to be tried for the murder of Mr Ogden.

The case was prosecuted by DDA Matt Gaidos.
