Meet DA Nancy E. O'Malley

People v Jacob James Kober

On February 23, 2015, a jury convicted Jacob James Kober of first degree murder and an enhancement for use of a firearm for the killing of Robert Ogden on December 28, 2012.

Defendant Kober and the victim were longtime friends. Late in 2012, they had a falling out over the victim owing the defendant money, and also about Kober's belief that the victim had tried to kiss the defendant’s girlfriend.

On the night of December 28th, 2012 the victim came to talk things over with Kober near the Springtown Golf Course, in Livermore. Kober and the victim walked out onto the golf course and the victim was found dead the next morning, shot once in the left arm and once in the right side.

The defendant fled to Oakland and then to Oregon where he was arrested and extradited back to California. While in Oregon, Kober sent threatening text messages to some of the witnesses.

The case was prosecuted by DDA Matt Gaidos.
