DA’s Office to Host Victims’ Rights Week Forums April 19-25

In recognition of 2015 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, District Attorney Nancy E. O’Malley and the Alameda County DA’s Office will be hosting a series of community forums around the county.

These forums will provide residents with an opportunity to learn about their rights, the resources available to them should their lives be impacted by crime, honor those impacted by crime and to raise awareness of the numerous roles the DA’s Office plays in our communities.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week commences April 19 and runs through until April 25, with the theme of this year's event 'Engaging communities, empowering victims'. The DA’s forums will be hosted at senior centers, churches, disability centers, as well as on campus at two local universities.

Staff from the DA's Office Victim/Witness Assistance Division, deputy district attorneys and DA inspectors, as well as representatives from the Alameda County Family Justice Center, will be present at each of the venues to answer your questions and provide tailored information regarding your rights and the services available to victims of crime. The majority of the victim-focused services offered by the DA’s Office are coordinated by the Victim/Witness Assistance Division. This division was the first of its kind in California and has served hundreds of thousands of victims of crime over 40 years.

Alameda County District Attorney’s Office will launch 2015 National Crime Victims' Rights Week with a community forum at Cal State East Bay on Monday, April 19.
