SB 130 Extends Support to Victims of Crime Jun 28, 2013

On June 28, 2013, Governor Jerry Brown signed SB 130 into law. This bill, written by State Senator Ellen Corbett and co-sponsored by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, expands the list of criminal charges for which a prosecuting witness may have a support person present while testifying.

DA O'Malley Lends Support to S.O.S. Initiative Jun 14, 2013

District Attorney Nancy O'Malley officially lends her support to the nationwide initiative to curb robberies and thefts of smartphones. The Secure Our Smartphones (S.O.S.) Initiative, spearheaded by San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón and New York State Attorney General Erich Schneiderman, brings together attorneys general, district attorneys, chiefs of police, consumer advocates, and educators from all around the country for a conversation with smartphone manufacturers on the topic of crime deterrance.

June Public Safety Presentations For Seniors Jun 5, 2013

June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month. This June, our Office is proud to partner with Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan in sponsoring "Staying Safe In Our Community," a series of free presentations for seniors that will be held at select libraries in Alameda County throughout the month. These workshops will feature speakers from law enforcement, emergency response, social services, and more.
