What We Do
At the Alameda County District Attorney's office, we review and prosecute criminal violations committed in Alameda County, bring criminal and civil actions for environmental, consumer and other violations, protect and uphold the rights of victims, and serve our community in various innovative ways (such as restorative justice projects). The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is comprised of 148 attorneys, 67 inspectors, 31 Victim-Witness advocates and claim specialists, as well as a variety of administrative, finance and communications professionals. Our jurisdiction covers over 800 square miles and our staff work in 10 offices located throughout the County.
Divisions of the DA's Office include Criminal, Juvenile, Consumer & Welfare Fraud, and Victim-Witness Assistance. We also have units specializing in the areas of gangs, sexual assault, human trafficking, DNA/unsolved cases, truancy, identity theft, DNA, child abduction and more.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is a statewide leader in victims’ rights and assistance. In the past decade, our pioneering Restitution Unit has obtained over $125 million in restitution orders for both victims of crime in Alameda County and the California Victims Compensation Program who have expended funds on behalf of victims.
We also offer our community unique victim services such as Criminal Docket Finder, Inmate Locator, and the innovative Alameda County Family Justice Center - a one-stop shop for victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking.
