About Us

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is comprised of 150 attorneys, 60 inspectors, 34 Victim-Witness Assistance consultants and claim specialists, as well as a variety of support professionals.

Divisions of the Office include Criminal, Juvenile, Consumer & Welfare Fraud, and Victim-Witness Assistance. We also have units specializing in the areas of gangs, sexual assault, human trafficking, truancy, identity theft, DNA, and child abduction. Our jurisdiction covers over 800 square miles and our attorneys and staff work in 10 offices located throughout the County.

In 2010, the attorneys in our office handled over 44,400 felony and misdemeanor cases. Our felony prosecutors secured convictions in almost 90% of the felony cases taken to trial, and in 97% of the murder cases tried before a jury.

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is a statewide leader in victims’ rights and assistance. In the 2010 fiscal year, our Restitution Unit obtained over 1,160 restitution orders and fines on behalf of crime victims in Alameda County totaling more than $25 million, making our program the most successful in the State.

We also offer our community unique victim services such as the new criminal docket finder and the innovative Family Justice Center, a one-stop shop for victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking.
